How to Submit Assignments in WebCT 6

1. To complete an assignment, go to the "Assignments" link on the left side navigation or follow a link to an assignment in a learning module.

Inbox Tab: Any assignments you have not completed will show in the "inbox." If an instructor returns an assignment to you for futher editing, it will reappear in the assignment inbox tab.

Submitted Tab: Assignments that have been submitted, but not graded, will be under the "submitted" tab.

Graded Tab: Graded assignments are located under the "graded" tab. Go to this area to pick up your graded work and to see your instructor's comments.

Published Tab: The "published" tab will display any assignments shared to the entire class by the instructor or an individual student. (This is where you may find student profiles, if your instructor sets them up as assignments.)

All settings for this screen are controlled by the instructor.

To begin working on an assignment, make sure you're in the Inbox, then click an assignment title to open it. you will find instructions and other details inside the assignment.

2. Pay close attention to the top area of the assignment--this is where you will see the title, the due date, and any other important information. Pay close attention to due dates!

Some assignments will include a "Grading Form"

If you see a link to a grading form, be sure to view it to see how your work will be scored. A grading form can be a valuable tool to help you to understand exactly what the instructor expects to see.

3. Assignments can be submitted one of two ways. Make sure you know which method your instructor prefers.

Option 1: Type your assignment right on the screen. If you use this option, you can apply additional formating to your assignment by using the Enable HTML Creator button. (Please save periodically if you are creating a lengthy assignment, as you can time out before you hit submit.)

The HTML Creator looks very much like a word processor. Use it to change your font style, size, color, etc. You can also insert bullets, tables and images, if you wish. Spell check is available in this screen.

Option 2: Many instructors will prefer that you create and submit a Word document to complete your assignments. To submit a word document for an assignment, simply click the "Add Attachments " button, use the My Computer button to navigate to where your file is located, select, and attach the file.

To view a Flash demo of the process, click the play button.
