This course provides English language learners with basic reading skills in English. The focus will be on pronunciation, dictionary use, vocabulary improvement and reading comprehension. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to enroll in English Language Reading Transitions.

This course focuses on the development of well-written paragraphs. Students will study paragraph structure and specific grammatical elements which are used when writing sentences in English. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to enroll in English Language Writing Transitions.

This course improves the reading skills of English language learners. The focus will be on reading comprehension, vocabulary study, word-building strategies and learning words in context. This course prepares students to manage the reading requirements of college level classes.

This course improves the writing skills of English language learners who are seeking admission into transfer-level writing courses. This course focuses on composing sentences, paragraphs and short essays using grammatically correct English.
English Language Speaking and Listening
ESLX 0015
This course is designed to provide English Language learners with a foundation in listening comprehension skills along with practice in using English. Fundamental listening tasks and the successful production of coherent oral communication will be emphasized. Credit is awarded on a pass/no pass basis.
