Human Relations in Education

Western Nebraska Community College offers a two-week, fully online Human Relations training course for students seeking a substitute teaching permit in Nebraska.

This course equips educators across all teaching contexts—from K-12 classrooms to skilled trades shops to health sciences programs—with practical skills for recognizing bias, promoting pluralism, and fostering dignity in a variety of learning environments. You'll engage with real scenarios, reflect on your own teaching practice, and complete a final Project tailored to your specific teaching context—whether that's redesigning curriculum materials, developing professional training for colleagues, creating strategies for fostering inclusive classroom culture, or imagining "service learning" opportunities and increasing community engagement.

The course has no scheduled meetings or live sessions—you work through materials and complete assignments on your own time, with specific deadlines throughout the two-week period.
