Transfer

The transfer process can be confusing, but we are here to help! WNCC offers support services for students who want to transfer to or from WNCC and our transfer advisors provide assistance along the way.

The transfer process starts with you! The sooner you determine what your educational goals are and where you plan to fulfill those, the more likely you are to experience a smooth transition. Establishing a clear pathway will increase the likelihood that you’ll be successful!

Transferring Credit to WNCC

Students who wish to transfer credits from another institution to WNCC should first apply for admission to WNCC. Then, students are encouraged to visit Transfer Nebraska to begin the process. This site will help you determine if the classes you have already taken will transfer to WNCC! If your current school isn't listed on the Transfer Nebraska website, please contact the WNCC Office of the Registrar.

Transferring Credit from WNCC

Though we make every effort to assist students wishing to transfer to other colleges and universities, we recommend you also contact the institution you are planning to attend. Each institution has its own standards and prerequisites to transfer, but most schools will generally accept credits that meet the following requirements:

  • A grade of “C” or better, however, some college and universities accept “D’s”. Be sure to check with your transfer institution.
  • Classes numbered below 1000 generally do not transfer.

Planning for your transfer should start sooner than later, even if you don’t know for sure where you would like to transfer. You should work with your faculty advisor or a transfer advisor in Career Pathways & Advising to plan for your transition to a new institution.

Advisors at WNCC will make every effort to assist you in the transfer process, but we recommend that you learn more about the college or university to which you are considering transferring.  The following websites can be very helpful in understanding which classes will and will not transfer:

Reverse Transfer

Reverse transfer is the process of awarding an associate degree to students who began their education at WNCC, and then transferred to a four-year institution before completing their associate degree. While at the four-year institution, students work toward their bachelor degree requirements and transfer pertinent coursework back to WNCC to complete their associate degree requirements at no additional cost.

Students are eligible to pursue reverse transfer to WNCC if they have:

  • Completed 25 percent of degree or certificate requirements at WNCC.
  • A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Submitted a transcript from a college or university to evaluate if the courses being transferred back to WNCC fulfill program requirements to graduate.

Coursework must be evaluated by the WNCC Registrar’s Office to determine if the academic credit meets the criteria for transfer to WNCC.

To participate, please fill out the reverse transfer application form, and mail to the Office of the Registrar at 1601 E. 27th Street, Scottsbluff, NE 69361, or by fax at 308.635.6732.
