International Students

When applying for admission, you will need to have the following supporting documents readily available:

• Copy of your valid, current passport
• Copy of your secondary school transcript, diploma or exit exam
• Copy of a bank statement showing at least $17,184 USD or equivalent available
• Sponsor statement from bank account owner, if you are not self-sponsored
• Proof of English proficiency if English is not your first language. Accepted tests include the TOEFL (minimum score of 57 required), IELTS, iTEP, and Duolingo (must have a minimum score of 90). Depending on your English proficiency, you may be placed in certain courses to help improve your English speaking, writing, or reading.

Once you have your supporting documents together, it's time to apply to WNCC!

A placement test score will be required prior to the issuance of an I-20. The following placement tests are accepted. 

• SAT 
• ACT
• Accuplacer

If you do not have a placement score, once you are accepted to WNCC, an International Team Member will contact you to provide information on how to take the Accuplacer at no charge to you.

After you are accepted for admission to WNCC and have received your I-20, you still need to be approved by the United States Government. To be considered, you will need to:

• Pay a $350 SEVIS I-901 fee online (and keep your electronic SEVIS fee receipt)
• Apply for your non-immigrant visa (online DS-160 form)
• Schedule your visa interview at the US embassy or consulate
• Complete the interview

We highly encourage new students, and particularly international students, to live on campus in our residence halls. To reserve your room, you’ll need to complete the WNCC Housing Application. You’ll receive more information on housing when you receive your acceptance letter from WNCC. For more information on housing, please email housing@wncc.edu.

All students are required to have health insurance while attending college in the United States. You may choose or provide your own insurance, or you can use International Student Insurance. You will  be required to show proof of insurance upon arrival at WNCC.

New Student Orientation (NSO) is required for all first-year students to WNCC. You’ll receive more information on NSO after you have been accepted into WNCC.

You can purchase your books online at our Cougar Bookstore.

You can pay for your tuition and fees online through your portal, and can establish a payment plan through Nelnet at mycollegepaymentplan.com/wncc. Payments and payment methods will be a discussion topic at the New Student Orientation.

Totals below are based on a full academic year at a full-time, 15 credit hours per semester, rate.

• Tuition and Fees: $4,410
• Books, Transportation, and Insurance: $3,300
• Living Expenses/Room and Board: $8,674
• International Fee: $300
• Incidentals: $500

If your spouse and/or children will be traveling with you, you must show an additional $8,674 for each person.

We do offer some scholarships for international students at WNCC, but only after you have been accepted for admission.

There may also be some employment opportunities at college available. However, scholarships and employment are not guaranteed, so you are required to prove you have sufficient funds to cover one year of study before being accepted into WNCC.
