Student Employment

There are two types of Student Employment at WNCC: Federal Work Study and Institutional Employment.

Federal Work Study is an employment program funded by the U.S. Department of Education and WNCC; eligibility is determined by the FAFSA and the amount of Need you have. These positions pay at least minimum wage and allow students to work up to 10 hours per week during the Fall and Spring terms.

Any student can apply for Institutional Employment opportunities; the FAFSA is not required for these positions. International students who are enrolled in at least 12 credits hours may work up to 20 hours per week. All other students (full-time is not required) may work up to 15 hours per week.

Process

  • View list of positions on our student employment page
  • Apply for a position
  • If hired, the Supervisor will complete a Student Employment Authorization that will be submitted to Financial Aid.
  • Before students begin work, they must complete all required payroll forms with the Human Resource department online via NeoEd Portal:
    • Student Employment Agreement
    • IRS Form I-9 (Federal E-Verify reporting requirement is not optional!)
    • Federal tax withholding Form W4
    • State tax withholding Form W4N
    • Board of Governor Policy/Procedure Acknowledgment
  • After the Student Employment Authorization and student paperwork are complete, the Student Employment Authorization will be sent to Payroll so they can set up the timesheet. You may NOT begin working until you receive an email stating your timesheet is set up and you are approved to begin work.
  • When Payroll approves the Student Employment Authorization, a final approval email will be generated and sent to the hiring manager as confirmation that the student is authorized to work.
