Education (Elementary and Secondary)

Start Here, Get There

Program Overview

The education program at Western Nebraska Community College is designed to answer the question, "Now that I've decided to begin my formal study of education, what's next?" Included in the program are the introduction to the history and philosophies of education, curriculum analysis, school governance, finance, and contemporary successes and problems in education. The program is offered on our Alliance, Scottsbluff and Sidney campuses with many classes also available online.

Students who are on the career path to become teachers can take approximately half of their undergraduate college coursework at WNCC. Students who graduate with an associate's degree from WNCC can transfer their coursework to any public four-year college in Nebraska to meet needed prerequisites. Many WNCC graduates majoring in education pursue their bachelor's degree through Chadron State College because of the agreement between the two colleges. Education majors have the convenience of attending most of their Chadron State College classes at WNCC's Scottsbluff campus.
