Program Overview

Participants in this emphasis area, offered on our Scottsbluff campus, are provided with a background that enables them to pursue a course of study in a college or university that offers degree programs in the fields of forestry and/or wildlife management.


  • Provide the student with knowledge of the Physical and Biological Science courses prerequisite for entrance into Forestry and Wildlife Management programs.
  • Make the student aware of the importance of a career dealing with the care and management of our renewable resources.
  • Provide an educational experience that allows the student to complete the transition to a four-year college or university with relative ease.

The U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that in 2012, the median pay for Conservation Scientists and Foresters with at least a bachelor's degree was $59,060 per year. Growth in jobs in this field for the decade 2012-2022 was projected to be 3%, slower than average. (
