Program Overview

The Psychology emphasis area, offered on our Alliance, Scottsbluff and Sidney campuses is designed to provide the basis of a liberal education to those students interested in psychology. The course of study offers the students the opportunity to study a wide variety of topics included within this multifaceted discipline.

Psychology majors, in addition to becoming aware of the study and knowledge of behavior, may also apply the experience they acquire in the field to further training or work in the health professions, including mental and physical health education, special education, and human services. Students are expected to take suitable courses in support areas such as science, mathematics, social science, language arts, and foreign language.

  • Fulfill the graduation requirements for the Associate of Arts degree.
  • Facilitate the students entry into a baccalaureate program in Psychology at a college or university.
  • Stimulate students' interest in their own self-growth as they increase their understanding of others.
  • Provide students with the knowledge that could make them employable by community agencies in human service areas.
