The Western Nebraska Community College Cougar Palace will come alive with Native American
culture and tradition on November 7, when the Many Moccasins Dance Troupe takes the
floor for a free one-night public performance. Sponsored by United Leaders for Cultural
Diversity, the event is aimed at celebrating Native American Heritage Month.
Hailing from Winnebago, Neb., the Many Moccasins Dance Troupe is an ensemble of professional
performers who utilize traditional Native American style of dance and incorporate
their own unique theatrical twist.
This dance group has been performing for large audiences since its inception in 2001.
After performing professionally for nine years, the Many Moccasins Dance Troupe now
choreographs new and more contemporary performances. The shows typically include dancing,
drumming, flute-playing, regalia, narration, and storytelling to educate the audience
about Native American culture and history.
Using what they have learned throughout years of performing, the dance troupe includes
props and groundbreaking audio to enhance their performances. This dance troupe now
tours and performs to large audiences and sold-out crowds across the country.
Many Moccasins performs in the WNCC gym on Thursday, November 7 from 12:30 until 1:30
p.m. This free program is open to all students, staff and faculty as well as the community.
