WNCC Art Gallery Showcases Panhandle Artists

WNCC

Western Nebraska Community College invites panhandle artists to submit original artwork for display in the third Annual Art Gallery Exhibit from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 16, at the John N. Harms Advanced Technology Center in Scottsbluff.

WNCC requires no entry fee for this non-juried show, and all panhandle artists and WNCC alumni may submit original artwork. The WNCC Alumni Association defines an alum as anyone who has ever taken a class at WNCC. Artists may submit their work between September 1 and 15. The exhibit is held in conjunction with Celebrate WNCC and the Scottsbluff/Gering United Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours.

Last year, the WNCC Art Gallery featured 39 artists with over 150 works of art. The public cast ballots for the People’s Choice Award, with top honor going to Kyren Conley of Alliance with her piece titled “Suspended I.” Christopher Camacho of Scottsbluff received the Honorable Mention honor for his photo mosaic “Samantha in Flowers.”

“Thousands of people visit our campus each year,” says Dean of Economic and Community Development Judy Ammo. “This is an opportunity for WNCC to proudly recognize the breadth of artistic talent in our communities and to support the arts as well as the artists.” Seventeen pieces from last year’s show sold with additional pieces commissioned.
