The Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) recently announced Dr. M. Thomas Perkins of the Western Community College Area (WCCA) Board of Governors as the recipient of the 2014 Western Region Trustee Leadership Award. Awards recognize tremendous contributions made by trustees, equity programs, chief executive officers, faculty members, and professional board staff.
“It’s hard to put into words what this award means to me,” Dr. Perkins tells us. “It is quite an honor that my peers selected me for this award. I have spent many years in community college work, never dreaming that I would be nominated for something of this significance. Frankly, I was extremely surprised and very moved by being nominated and then being selected for the award.”
Founded in 1972, the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) is the nonprofit educational organization of governing boards, representing more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees of community, technical, and junior colleges in the United States and beyond.
The ACCT announced all awardees individually via Twitter, @CCTrustees. For more information about the organization, upcoming events, and a press release with a full list of this year’s regional award recipients, please visit acct.org.
