Select members of WNCC Collegiate Chorale, directed by Rita Stinner, will travel to and perform in New York for MidAmerica Productions' 30th Anniversary Celebration Series at Carnegie Hall, May 21-15, 2014. The work to be performed is Stephen Paulus’ “To Be Certain of the Dawn”. WNCC Collegiate Chorale members will join members of the Nebraska Wesleyan University, Drake University of Des Moines, University of Nebraska Omaha, Lincoln Choral Arts Society, and more.
“To Be Certain of the Dawn”, a Holocaust Memorial Oratorio, commissioned in 2005, honors two important anniversaries: the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi death camps and the 40th anniversary of the publication of Nostra Aetate (Latin for "In Our Times"), the seminal Vatican II document that condemned blaming Jews for the death of Christ. The work will be performed with a mass adult chorus, children’s chorus, professional orchestra, and professional soloists.
