Cast members include WNCC students Rachel Karpen and Travis Eckland as Mr. and Mrs. Beaver and Marissa Plumber and Jessica Barrett, who vie for good versus evil. Set designer Justin Lane, costume designer Angela Stransky, and director Marlaina Seay have created a concept that sparks the imagination of all audiences. With a total of 24 cast, 12 crew, and five production team members, this production encompasses some phenomenal work by WNCC students, staff, and community members alike.
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is adapted for the stage by Joseph Robinette from C. S. Lewis’ classic by the same title. The play follows four children as they disappear into a wardrobe and end up in the land of Narnia. An evil witch has claimed the land, spreading fear and winter wherever she goes, though not all of the creatures in Narnia are loyal to her. Aslan, the great lion and rightful ruler of Narnia, returns when the children journey to Narnia. Great duels, battles, and narrow escapes follow the characters as they learn the meaning of truth, good versus evil, and the importance of family. In addition to these characters, favorites from C. S. Lewis’ novel fill the cast including: Tumnus, Fenris Ulf, the White Witch’s Dwarf, Father Christmas, and Mr. and Mrs. Beaver.
Performances take place March 5 and 6 at 7:00 p.m. and on March 7 at 3:00 p.m. at WNCC’s Little Theatre. For more information, please contact Marlaina Seay at 308.631.0676.
