At the podium is Hod Kosman, Platte Valley Companies CEO."The marathon is entering its fourth year, and we're bigger and stronger than ever," said Jennifer Rogers, race director and WNCC Foundation executive director. The full-marathon (26.2 miles) and half-marathon (13.1 miles) offer a unique experience to runners and walkers.
The Scotts Bluff National Monument serves as the focal point and the course traverses through the park's badlands and historic Mitchell Pass. The plains of western Nebraska offer stunning landscape views. The adjoining Wildcat Hills, with rugged rock buttes and pine-clad canyons, bring a beautiful contrast that participants seeking a scenic course will appreciate.
Last year, nearly 500 runners and walkers from 24 states enjoyed a successful Platte Valley Companies Monument Marathon and Half-Marathon. In 2013, the Nebraska Tourism Commission recognized Platte Valley Companies Monument Marathon and Half-Marathon with its Outstanding Event Award. In addition, in 2014, members of the 100 Half Marathons Club named the half-marathon among the top Nebraska half-marathons.
