The Military and Veterans Affairs office at Western Nebraska Community College hosts its second annual S.W.A.P. (Service Women Attaining Power) on Saturday, June 6 at the Sidney campus from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Collaborators in the event include the VA Medical Centers of Black Hills, Cheyenne, and Omaha. Chris Wolf, Director of Military and Veterans Affairs at WNCC, encourages all female veterans to attend and learn more about health services offered by the VA Health System.
Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. when attendees meet and greet over coffee, muffins, and fruit. Chris Wolf provides a welcome at 10:00 a.m. with an introduction to women's health topics. "The VA has really expanded its services for females," says Wolf, "and I am very eager to spread this information. We want to make sure our female veterans learn about all the services that they are entitled to."
Tom McDonough, Nebraska State Service Officer from Lincoln, NE, provides the keynote speech, sharing with attendees the services offered to them through the County Veterans Service officers.
While the conference informs and educates female veterans of important health services available to them, the organizers plan to emphasize fun, comradeship, and building friendly connections. Attendees are encouraged to register in advance by contacting Linda Roelle, Workforce Development Specialist at the WNCC campus in Sidney, at 308.254.7407.
