The Western Nebraska Community College Vocal Music Program, under the direction of
Dr. Imgyu Kang, presents the 26th annual A Gala Evening at the Gering Civic Center
on Friday, February 19 and Saturday, February 20.
The 2016 theme, "The Evolution of Music," will take the audience on a journey through
musical time. Listeners can enjoy familiar tunes such as William Tell Overture, Hallelujahfrom
the animated movie Shrek, a tribute to Queen, and Uptown Girl by Billy Joel to name
a few.
"For this year's Gala I wanted to focus on many genres of music from different time
periods," Dr. Kang said. "We'll cover everything from the Gregorian chant to very
contemporary music. I want the audience to feel like they've truly experienced the
evolution of music."
The 26th annual A Gala Evening begins with performances during a social hour at 6:00
p.m., and dinner service follows at 6:45 p.m. Every course of the Italian themed dinner
will include the talent of the WNCC Vocal Program.
