Western Nebraska Community College's Nursing Program recently conducted a simulation
learning activity on the Scottsbluff Campus for practical and associate degree nursing
students. 62 students representing all three WNCC campuses (Alliance, Scottsbluff,
and Sidney) gathered at the John N. Harms Advanced Technology Center for the all-day
event.
WNCC nursing faculty created a wide variety of patient problems that provided students
the opportunity to train in a safe and risk free simulated healthcare environment.
The activities were developed to integrate five student learning outcomes that focus
on safety, patient-centered care, collaboration and communication, inquiry-based practice,
and professionalism. These learning outcomes assist students in developing confidence
and competence.
