Platte Valley Companies Honored With WNCC Friend of the College Award

Western Nebraska Community College named Platte Valley Companies the recipient of the 2016 Friend of the College Award. 
 
The Friend of the College Award represents the highest honor given by the College to a person, business, or community organization for their commitment to education and fulfilling the WNCC mission of "Fostering learning opportunities for all - enriching lives, invigorating communities, and creating futures."
 
Platte Valley Companies consistently gives back to local organizations and events in the valley through time and resources. Platte Valley Companies epitomizes the ideal of being community-minded and it's because of them that residents in the panhandle have an even better community to call home.
 
Since its inception five years ago, PVC has been the Title Sponsor of the Monument Marathon which has raised over $200,000 for student scholarships. Their employees also volunteer many hours to help with the coordination, set-up, and execution on race day.
 
"WNCC would not be able to continue without the support of our community," said WNCC President Dr. Todd Holcomb. "We thank Platte Valley Companies for their support of our College."

In the past, Platte Valley Companies has supported WNCC programs such as athletics, vocal music, instrumental music, student study abroad opportunities, the Hispanic Advisory Committee, youth leadership, the John N. Harms Advanced Technology Center, and many others. Recently, Platte Valley Companies sponsored a key seminar of the Nebraska Community College Association's annual conference that was hosted by WNCC. Even more importantly, Platte Valley Companies hires WNCC graduates, promotes their continuing education, and utilizes WNCC for ongoing workforce training.
