Western Nebraska Community College presents A Very Valley Christmas, a showcase of
holiday music favorites December 1 & 2 at 7 p.m. in the WNCC Little Theatre on the
Scottsbluff campus.
A Very Valley Christmas is a collaboration between Instrumental and Vocal music programs
at WNCC, and for the first time, includes the talents of the Theatre program. Also
new this year, due to the concert's popularity, is the addition of a Thursday night
performance.
"We're thrilled to have the Theatre program as a part of the show," says Dr. Nathaniel
Johnson, WNCC instrumental music director. "A Very Valley Christmas started as a musical
holiday card from the instrumental music program to the community. Now it has become
what I had originally envisioned: a gift from the entire Performing Arts program,"
Johnson added.
The evening showcases the Fire in the Pan Swingers and Western Nebraska Winds instrumental
groups, and the Collegiate Chorale and Varsity Vocalise vocal music groups. Smaller
vocal and instrumental ensembles will also appear on the program.
Those in attendance will enjoy a variety of holiday favorites, including settings
of "Deck the Halls," "Mary Did You Know?" "Let it Snow," "Angels We Have Heard on
High," and more. A select group of theatre students will perform "A Simple Christmas
Photo."
The evening will conclude with a Christmas medley performed by both Collegiate Chorale
and Western Nebraska Winds, followed by an audience sing-along of "Hallelujah Chorus".
The performances are free and open to the public. Refreshments are offered after the
show.
