Western Nebraska Community College today announced that it has received a $20,000 grant from Union Pacific Foundation. As part of the WNCC Works: Expanding the Possibilities campaign, the grant will support the upcoming renovation of the WNCC Scottsbluff Campus Performing Arts facility.
"Union Pacific has a long-standing commitment to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve and where our employees live and work," said Scott D. Moore, President of Union Pacific Foundation. "Our vision is that Union Pacific employees will take pride in their company's civic leadership and that our customers and shareholders will appreciate and recognize Union Pacific as an excellent corporate citizen. We are proud to support the Western Nebraska Community College Foundation.
The donation came in the midst of the fundraising campaign for the college, which will extend through the fall of 2016. This year also marks the landmark 90th anniversary of Western Nebraska Community College. The campaign has raised more than 90% of its goal. WNCC joins many community colleges that have launched campaigns to raise private donations and individual giving.
"This generous grant will enable us to renovate and expand the Performing Arts facility on our Scottsbluff Campus to better serve our students and the community through top-notch events," said WNCC President Todd Holcomb. "We are very grateful to the Union Pacific Foundation for their recognition of the importance of these cultural opportunities and upgraded facilities in the panhandle," he added.
