The Western Community College Area (WCCA) Board of Governors, the governing body of Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC), is pleased to announce its newest District 4 member, Karen Anderson.
Anderson's addition to the board fills the vacancy that was created when Timothy Daniels resigned due to relocation from the community. District 4 represents the following precincts: Castle Rock A & B, Banner County, Fanning, Ford A & B, Gering Rural, Gering I-IV, Kiowa-Lyman, Mitchell Rural, Mitchell I-II, Morrill, Roubadeau, and Terrytown.
For nearly 20 years, Anderson has served as the Executive Director of the Scottsbluff/Gering United Chamber of Commerce. In addition, she has also served on the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce Executive Board, Mid America Chamber Executives, and the U.S. Chamber Board of Regents for the Institutes for Organization Management. She volunteers with the Rotary Club of Scottsbluff/Gering, and also serves as an assisting priest for St. Francis Episcopal Church in Scottsbluff.
"Community Colleges are a true asset to our future," Anderson said. "Education is key to the success of our community. Two of my children have associate degrees from WNCC, and I have been impressed with the accomplishments of the college. It's an honor to give back to this wonderful institution."
