Western Nebraska Community College's Vocal Music department presents "A Grand Party"
for its Fall Vocal Music Showcase on Friday, November 2 at 7 p.m. The performance
will be held at the Midwest Theater with doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a dessert bar.
Tickets are on sale now for $15 by visiting wncc.edu/performingarts or by calling
the Midwest Theater at 308-632-4311. They can also be purchased at the door prior
to the performance.
"A Grand Party" is a nod to Opera Houses all over the world, which present Gala evenings
to celebrate all things Opera. The WNCC Vocal Music Showcase will turn its attention
to the beautiful choruses of Opera and Musical Theatre.
Patrons can expect to hear classic pieces from the late 19th century and early 20th
century from composers like Verdi and Puccini, as well as a number of popular musicals
today.
"We truly will have a wide range of music on display this year," said WNCC Choral
Activities Director Dr. Patrick Newell. "The showcase is a must-attend event for any
opera enthusiast, as well as anyone who enjoys a good Showtune."
Featured songs will be taken from "Madama Butterfly," "La Traviata," "The Greatest
Showman," "Dear Evan Hansen," "Carousel," and many others. Guest soloists will include
WNCC faculty Lauren Newell, Martha Rawlings, and Dr. Patrick Newell. Local tenor Ty
Hebbert will also perform in a variety of solos, duets, and choral tunes, accompanied
by a full orchestra.
