The Western Nebraska Community College Theatre Arts program will present "Fuddy Meers"
on March 1-3 in the John N. Harms Center lower bay area. Performances begin at 7:30
p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Tickets are $5 and can be purchased in advance or at the door one hour prior to curtain.
WNCC students, faculty, and staff will be admitted for free with their ID.
"Fuddy Meers," written by David Lindsay-Abaire and directed by WNCC Theatre Arts Instructor Robert
Thompson, Jr., focuses on Claire (played by Dani Lopez) who suffers from severe amnesia.
Each morning Claire pieces together her life from the help of her husband Richard
(Joseph Orozco) and daughter Kandy (Sarai Walton). One morning, however, Claire is
rushed away by a mysterious man (James Maag) and encounters a series of twists and
turns, while she sorts through reality.
"Many people compare this play to '50 First Dates' in which Adam Sandler and Drew
Barrymore starred," Thompson said. "However, the story told within 'Fuddy Meers' has
so many more layers than that film. This play dives deep into Claire's past, with each new turn revealing new personalities
and new secrets. 'Fuddy Meers' strikes a balance between quick-wit comedy and drama, which is sure to
keep the audience's attention."
Abaigeal O'Connor, Hanna Brannan, and Thompson also star in the play. Those attending are advised that adult themes and language are used.
"Because of the variety of animated characters, the nature of performing 'Fuddy Meers'
is very difficult," Thompson said. "So I'm incredibly proud of the production these
students have put together and I'm excited to present it to the community."
Tickets to "Fuddy Meers" can be purchased in advance by stopping by the WNCC Foundation
Office in the John N. Harms Center or by calling 308-630-6550. Tickets can also be purchased online at wncc.edu/performingarts or at the door one hour prior to curtain.
