
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - Western Nebraska Community College will kick off the 2019 Homecoming
Week with a White-Out volleyball game against Trinidad State Junior College, at 7
p.m., Friday, Oct. 18 at Cougar Palace.
Prior to first serve, the public is invited to the pre-game celebration at 6:15 p.m.,
for t-shirt giveaways, a 50/50 raffle to benefit the WNCC Food Pantry, mini-games,
and more. Children will receive free admission to the game by turning in the Buddy
the Cougar coloring page. The coloring pages will be distributed to schools in the
community, or are available for pick-up at the WNCC Foundation office and the Athletics
office. Immediately following the volleyball game, the Homecoming Court will be crowned.
The pre-game festivities and White-Out game mark the beginning of a week loaded with
Homecoming activities for WNCC students on all three campuses, and the public. The
theme is "Home Sweet Homecoming."
"The WNCC Alumni office is excited to host this year's homecoming festivities," Mary
Sheffield, alumni relations & stewardship director, said. "Homecoming 2019 has a robust
schedule that includes something for just about everyone. We hope the community will
come join the Cougars during this fun week."
The Sidney Campus will host the Voc Air Fly-In and Breakfast at 7 a.m., Saturday,
Oct. 19. Both the men's and women's soccer teams will host Northeastern Junior College
at Landers Memorial Soccer Complex. The women's match starts at 1:30 p.m., with the
men to follow at 4 p.m. The Cougar volleyball team will be back in action at 3 p.m.
against Otero Junior College at Cougar Palace. The first 200 people through the doors
will receive a free rally towel.
On the following Monday, Oct. 21, students on the Scottsbluff Campus will be treated
to a showing of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and popcorn in The Pit. The Alliance
Campus students will enjoy Marvelous Muffin Monday.
The highly anticipated Lip-Sync contest sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa is set for 7
p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the Conestoga Hall lobby on the Scottsbluff Campus.
Buddy the Cougar's Sweet 16 Birthday Party will highlight Wednesday's activities on
the Scottsbluff Campus at 10:50 a.m. The Sidney Campus' Homecoming BBQ is also set
for Wednesday.
Thursday, Oct. 24, is full of activities on the three campuses. Sidney will enjoy
root beer floats, and Alliance will host Community Bingo at the Senior Center at 1
p.m. On the Scottsbluff Campus, a Masonic Cornerstone Laying Ceremony to consummate
the recent addition and renovation of the Main Building is at 1 p.m., and Business
After Hours in the Learning Commons will be from 5-7 p.m. Both events are open to
the public.
Casino Night is set for Thursday from 7-9 p.m. for Scottsbluff Campus students in
the Bishop Dining Hall.
Buddy will enjoy his second birthday party of the week, Friday, Oct. 25 on the Alliance
Campus. The 6th Annual Alumni & Friends Banquet is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., Friday,
in the Learning Commons on the Scottsbluff Campus. To register for the banquet, contact

On Saturday, Oct. 26, Homecoming Week will come to a close with the Veterans Upward
Bound 20th Anniversary Luncheon in the John N. Harms Center on the Scottsbluff Campus.
Justin Kane will provide live music starting at 11:30 a.m., with lunch and the ceremony
beginning at noon.
