SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - After two years of renovation, Western Nebraska Community College
is happy to announce that the new Main Building of the Scottsbluff Campus is ready
for occupancy.
Many of the departments and services that were temporarily located at SWBC for the
duration of the renovation will begin to move back into the new space the week of
Sept. 23.
"I want to thank SWBC for allowing us to use their building," WNCC Interim President
John Harms said. "They are a great neighbor to have in our community."
The following departments will begin to move into the Main Building: Admissions, Business
Office/Cashier, Career Pathways & Advising, CollegeNOW!, Counseling, Dean of Students/Student
Life, Disability Services, Educational Services, Financial Aid, Human Resources, Information
Office, International Student Services, Multicultural & Inclusion Services, President's
Office, Registrar's Office, and Student Engagement.
TRIO Student Support Services is already located in the Main Building, just outside
of Cougar Palace. TRIO Veterans Upward Bound and Military & Veterans Affairs will
join them in the coming months.
The Bookstore, which will be renamed to Buddy's Books & Bistro, is tentatively scheduled
to move in October. Until then, it can be found in its original location near Cougar
Palace.
The Learning Commons, located on the upper level of the new space, includes Library
resources, the IT Help desk, individual and group study rooms, and wall-to-wall views
of campus and the Valley.
The Howard Olsen Student Success Center and Welcome Center is located on the lower level of the renovated section of the Main Building. This
will be a one-stop-shop for Career Pathways & Advising, Financial Aid, Registrar's
Office, and other student services. Also located on the lower level is the Business
Office, Educational Services, and other administrative offices.
"I am excited to be moving back into the Main Building where the majority of our faculty
and students are located," Harms said. "The students will find the new Welcome Center
to be much easier to get the necessary assistance they need with all of their services
in one place. And I think they'll really enjoy the new bistro and studying spaces
in the Learning Commons."
Normal business hours for WNCC students and patrons will remain the same: Monday-Thursday
from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
